Arraaayyyy!! !!! Waaaaaahhhhhhhhh! !!!!!!
At wala nang door knob na umeeksena.
Let me share one of my most unforgettable experiences. It happened when I was a third year high school student.
My father used to question my pagkalalaki. He always asked for updates on my crushes or nililigawan.
You know what he did? One day while I was in school, pinasok niya ang kuwarto ko.
Nora Aunor suffered physical pain in the movies in many different ways. Like the Stations of the Cross, it goes on—this incredible montage of Nora’s physical pain, enough to put Mel Gibson’s Passion to shame.
So here goes:
1. Nora Aunor was slapped on the face not only by Philippine cinema’s archetypal villains like Armida Siguion Reyna and Celia Rodriguez but also by its greatest actresses—Lolita Rodriguez, Vilma Santos, and Maricel Soriano—including her own real-life daughter, Lotlot de Leon. Name the films.
2. We counted at least four actors who raped Nora Aunor in the movies. One of them is Christopher de Leon, who raped her in three movies. Which movies? Who are the other three actors and which films?
8. What forms of torture did Nora have to go through as Flor Contemplacion and Andrea?
9. Explain why Venchito Galvez whipped her bare back, Geraldine threw acid on her face, and Albert Martinez crucified her.
Name the films.
12. In the movies, Nora Aunor was gunned down three times. A singlebullet killed her in Himala. Saan siya tinamaan? She was shot twice in Andrea. Saang parte ng katawan? At sa Bakit May Kahapon Pa?Saan ang tama niya?
Back in college we made a lampoon issue of our official paper, and we decided to make a story about Nora Aunor. The idea was to make her run for President against Cory Aquino. The positioning for Nora Aunor was as a nationalist leader and someone who could rally the cause of the poor. We played with a lot of names, mostly cause-oriented groups. Below are some of the names that we concocted:
NDF – National Democratic Front was changed to Nora Democratic Front
KMP – Kilusang Magbubukid sa Pilipinas to Kiko Matet Party (her children)
LFS – League of Filipino Students to Lotlot and Friends Society (Lotlot was so popular then)
ACT – Alliance of Concerned Teachers to Aunor’s and Concerned Tirsonians
KMU – Kilusang Mayo Uno to Kilusang Mayo beinte Uno (her birthday)
NPA – New Peoples Army to Nora Po Ako
AFP – Armed Forces of the Philippines to Aunor for President
ALSA MASA – Alyansa ng mga Yuyurak sa Mga Anti-Noranian
CEGP – College Editors Guild of the Philippines to Coalition of Editors for Guy’s Presidency
NUSP – National Union of Students of the Philippines to Nora’s Union of Students of the Philippines
SCMP – Student’s Christian Movement of the Philippines to Students Cause for Mama Guy’s Presidency
I remember it was a hit in the campus scene, and our paper became so popular during the student congress. I cannot recall the other names. We had fun brainstorming, and the result was really impressive—imagine all these groups supporting Ate Guy’s imagined candidacy as President.
We had this issue in 1988, and I cannot help but smile whenever I recall this experience. Well, apat kaming silent Noranians sa editorial board, and we had fun doing the issue.
I shared this story for you to know the wealth of ideas that could be generated from Nora Aunor. I am sure you, guys, would be able to develop a name that is cutting edge—not jaded and predictable—because the star we all adore is certainly not predictable and boring.
